Save water with a hand wash basin and toilet combination of the WiCi Concept range

Whether you are a couple, a family or in charge of an establishment, your hand wash basin of the WiCi Concept range will enable you to save water daily.

This page demonstrates the process of water collection that happens when you use the hand wash basin and how to calculate the amount of water saved by the different kinds of households or establishments.

The WiCi Concept hand wash basin product range

Save water in the most common case : the user washes his hands after flushing

The user has 50 to 80 seconds to contribute to the filling up of the toilet tank, concurrently to the usual filling up of the toilets (through the Geberit unifill float valve or other).

Indeed, the tank, along with a WiCi Concept®, WiCi Mini® or WiCi Boxi® hand wash basin, collects the water used for the washing of the hands. The amount of water is included between 0,5 and 1 liter : it reduces that much the consumption of water coming from the classic water supply network (that is to say, injected by the filling up system)!

Whatever the model you choose, the guidance of the water is made by a flexible outlet pipe under the free flowing plug of the hand wash basin, and directed towards the bottom of the toilet tank. On the pictures below, this outlet pipe is red coloured.

Let's note that, whatever the model you choose, the filling up system will keep playing its part : in order to use the hand wash basin, a Sanitie Jet double check tap valve (see the illustration below) is set up and allows the water to be directed towards both the the hand wash basin tap and the filling up system.
Functioning of a filling system with a WiCi Concept hand wash basin

Between 0,5 and 1 liter of water are saved every time you use your toilets : you are then able to calculate your own annual savings of water ! On an indicative basis, this saving of water made by the use of the hand wash basin is generally included between 1000 and 2000 liters per year and per user, and the price of a cubic meter of water is generally included between € 0,5 and 8 (depending on the country and the city you live in).

Therefore, the households' consumption of water is clearly reduced, up to 10 000 liters of water saved per year for very frequented toilets (for example, a large family or a flatshare), which enables to save up to a few dozens of euros and allows you to take on an environmentally friendly behaviour.

Please note that the impact is even more important within public buildings (hotels, restaurants, community centres, licensed professionals, offices, hairdressing salons, waiting rooms,...) where toilets are constantly used : the annual water savings come to hundreds of thousands of liters saved and hundreds of euros !

Savings thanks to a hand wash basin

Save water in a less common case : the user washes his hands when the tank is already filled up

When, for instance, the user enters the toilet sanitary room and the toilet tank is already full, the latter will first slightly "over-fill" up to 1 liter, value depending on the difference between the water level given by the toilet float valve and the overflow level (see the illustration below).
This will have no other effect than producing a slightly more powerful flushing for the next user... It's party time ! :)

Save water with a WiCi Bati Bati : functioning

On the other hand, if, for example, you have really dirty hands or if the user "forgets" to turn the tap off, the excess of water will then simply fill the overflow system of the water tank and softly flow into the toilet bowl.
Of course, in this case, there are no more water saving than with a classic hand wash basin.
